Hello, After the recent update to BEXEL 25.12.3 our team has been experiencing loss of information after reopening projects. We have been working normally to produce Cost Editors and assign elements to Cost Estimates on a regular workflow. We constantly save our work and there is no error during the saving process. The problem appears when reopening the project after closing the software. When the project is reopened, a window appears asking to “Save As” because the project was developed in a different version (which was not) and then we noticed that the Cost Classifications and Cost Versions inside Cost Editor and Cost Estimate disappeared.
We have noticed that the problem is related to the .components file that is automatically created inside the folder of each project. At some point, this file increases considerably its size, and it appears to be corrupted. We have recovered the version of the .components file before the size increase, and the Cost Classifications and Cost Versions are recovered for that moment, loosing the progress afterwards. We have also tried to use .components files on the Auto Save folder, but these files are already corrupted. The problem is that we haven´t been able to identify when the problem appears because everything is working normally until we reopen the project and find the loss of info.
Important to note that we work with in-house templates for Cost Classifications, where we have saved locally the Cost Classifications and use them as a basis for our work. These templates were created on an older version of BEXEL Manager, and we have noticed that the current version has more information for the Cost Versions, since when the Cost Version is exported to Excel, new columns appeared (Package Code, Package Name, Contract Code, Contract Name, and Contract ID). At first, we thought the issue might be related to the use of these templates, but we already worked creating the Cost Classification from scratch and the problem appeared again.
Also, we tried to export/import the Cost Classifications and Cost Versions to another version of the same project when the .components file was already corrupted, but when importing an error window appears and it is not possible to complete the exchange process.
We already tried to reinstall the software but did not solved the issue. The problem has happened on different projects and for different users.
Has anybody experienced something similar? Any suggestions on how to avoid this problem? It is causing us a lot of trouble and reworks on our projects. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi Francisco,
Â
So far, none of our clients have reported a similar issue. However, we would kindly ask you to contact our support team directly regarding this matter.
In order to thoroughly investigate the reported issue, we would appreciate it if you could send us the model along with all additional templates that were used for cost classification.
Kind regards,
