Hello!
Could you please explain the difference between creating a schedule through the items and levels wizards. What is the difference?
Thanks in advance!
Hello Adam,
Thank you for the great question.
The methodology is usually organized into two levels. For instance, UniFormat is often used to define the physical structure of work items, representing the first methodological level, while MasterFormat focuses on material-based segregation and serves as the second level. When the user wishes to organize the methodology into two levels, they should select the Methodology Levels option when creating the template. If the methodology is defined using only one level, the Methodology Items option will be the right choice.
The same idea applies to zones. The first zone level can reflect the spatial structure, such as the building levels, while the second level may represent how each building level is divided based on the construction sequence. In practice, it’s quite common to create a separate zone for each subdivision and then use the Zone Items option.
Best regards!
Hi again, I’ve created the schedule using the Methodology rules, but I’m getting a warning saying “Non Distributed Elements in the main group.” Could you please advise me on how to avoid this warning? Bye!
Hi Adam,
We kindly advise you to first verify whether the cost version used to create the methodology is the same as the one used when creating the new schedule. If both cost versions match, we recommend checking next whether the link rules for the leaf tasks are properly defined. The mentioned warning indicates that the leaf tasks are not linked to the BIM model.
Bye!
