Context menu Estimated reading: 5 minutes 476 views The context menu is activated by right-clicking in the 3D viewport. This menu includes four groups of commands. The first group of commands allows the selection of elements based on different parameters. The second group allows to show/isolate specific elements. The third group allows changing the element’s appearance. Finally, the last group includes commands that can change the look of the background of the viewport. Select command This option allows selecting elements in different ways using some predefined criteria.For example:Select the element → Right click → Select → Entire Family, Category will select all elements of the same family/category as the previously selected element.Cancel the command → Esc key.Other options include selecting previous/next selection, visible/invisible elements, a particular type of elements, and selecting by color. It is also possible to invert the selection using the commands Invert Selection and Invert Selection (Visible Only). Show All command The Show All command displays all model elements.Right-click → Show All Hide All command The Hide All command hides all model elements.Right-click → Hide All Show command The Show command displays previously hidden selected elements.Right-click → Show → Selected Element, Unselected Elements, Entire Category, Entire Family Hide command The Hide command hides elements, whole families, or categories of the currently selected element.Select the element → Right click → Hide → Selected Element, Unselected Elements, Entire Category, Entire Family.Cancelling the command → Right click → Undo Visibility Change or Ctrl+Z. Isolate command The Isolate command isolates selected elements, whole families or categories of the currently selected element, or estimated elements.Select the element → Right click → Isolate → Selected Elements, Entire Category, Entire Family, Estimated Elements.Cancelling the command → Right click → Undo Visibility Change or Ctrl+Z. Estimated elements are those elements that have passed the assignment within the cost. Isolate With Dim command The Isolate With Dim command is the type of isolation of a particular element, where the visibility and transparency of other elements can be arbitrarily determined:Select the element → Right click → Isolate with Dim → Wireframe, Shaded, Shaded with Edges → Transparency of elements can be defined with no need to be expressed, in percentages → Selected elements.Cancelling the command → Undo Isolate with Dim or Ctrl+Z.As with the regular Isolate command, Isolate with Dim can be applied to the entire category, family, or estimated elements. If a few extra steps are taken after activating Isolate With Dim command, returning to the previous view using the Undo Isolate With Dim command will not be possible. It is recommended to undo the command after use or after taking a few extra steps to select all elements in the model and change the Render Type to Shaded with Edges. Viewport Options Viewport options are used to configure graphical settings for background, grid, and how objects and object selections are represented. Options for element tooltips can also be configured. When the Viewport options are activated, there are two tabs: Background & Grid and Tooltip Options.Viewport options are activated in the following way:Right-click in the presentation field → The context menu opens where to select the Viewport Options item → The Configure Viewports window opens. Background & Grid tab This tab allows changing the background colors or setting the background image, changing the visibility of the network, etc.Grid options → Right-click → Viewport Options → The Configure Viewports window will open → Select the Background & Grid tab → Check the checkbox next to the option Grid. Define grid color and grid spacing.Background color change → Right-click → Viewport Options → The Configure Viewports window will open → Select the Background & Grids tab → In the Background section, choose whether the background will be monochromatic (Constant Color) or polychromatic (Gradient) → Choose the background color.Importing jpg file as background → Right click → Viewport Options → The Configure Viewports window will open → Background & Grid → Check the checkbox next to the option Sky Dome (The imported image must be in high resolution).Change the color of selected items → Right-click → Viewport Options → The Configure Viewports window will open → Select the Background & Grid → Structure tab.Cube and coordinate axes → Select the Background & Grid tab → Gizmo → Choose whether the cube and axis are visible. Tooltip Options tab The Tooltip provides basic information next to the cursor when it moves over an element. This information can be changed or turned off completely: Tooltip options → Right click → Viewport Options → The Configure Viewports window will open → Select the Tooltip Options tab → Define the visibility of the Tooltip by checking the Use Tooltip checkbox. In the Parameters window, it can be defined which element. parameters are displayed. Tooltip location can be specified as a fixed frame or a floating window. There are additional options for setting the location of the tooltip window. The Reset button is used for switching back to the default settings.
