After the project startup, a 3D view is shown in the center of the screen by default. The upper part of the application interface has a ribbon with various tabs such as Manage, Selection, Clash Detection, Schedule, View, Settings, Online, and Add-Ins. When activating any tabs, the Ribbon contains tools within the selected tab. To get more space on the screen, the Ribbon can be collapsed (or minimized) by using the arrow at the end of all tabs.

Activation of specific views

Depending on the project’s needs, the main viewport can display the model through six different views: Perspective, Ortho, Schedule, Perspective Color Coded, Ortho Color Coded, and Assignment. In addition to these main views, it is possible to activate the Level Map, located on the right side of the user interface window.

Each view provides a different visualization of the model and project information. The Ribbon within the View
tab defines which of these views will be active.

Go to the View tab in the upper part of the Ribbon à Select one of the view types (Perspective, Ortho, Schedule, Perspective Color Coded, Ortho Color Coded, Level Map, or Assignment) à By clicking the icon, each view type is activated or deactivated. Active view types are displayed on the toolbar above the main viewport.

Setting the palette visibility

The user interface contains several palettes on the right, left, and bottom parts of the screen. Each of these palettes has a large number of sub-forms with different tools. The visibility of individual palettes, menus, and tools can be adjusted using the View tab.

Go to the View tab in the upper part of the Ribbon à Select the Windows button à A list of four palette groups opens à Toggle their visibility by checking/unchecking them.

  • The first group of palettes presents different view types of the project, such as Perspective, Ortho, Schedule, Perspective Color Coded, Ortho Color Coded, Level Map, and Assignment.
  • The following group is located on the left part of the screen. It contains Building Explorer, Selection Sets, and Custom Breakdowns palettes for viewing, organizing and creating different breakdowns for further analysis and desired visualization.
  • The third palette group contains Quantity Takeoff, Assigned Items, Cost Editor, Methodology Editor, Zone Editor, Schedule Editor, Schedule Progress Editor, Schedule Animation, Clash Detection, Scenes and Animations, and Facility Maintenance, located at the bottom of the screen.
  • The last palette group contains tools for showing all information about selected 3D BIM model elements. It is located on the right part of the screen. These are the Properties, Selection Info, Materials, and Documents.

This list represents an organization of pallets by default. Each palette can be moved, grouped and placed somewhere else within the software interface.

Setting up the default software interface

To restore the original appearance of the software interface, select the Reset Layout command in the View tab. If satisfied with the appearance of the program interface and the Layout of individual tools, the Layout can be saved, exported, and used in another project.
